Fall Finalist ANDRES JORQUERA is a junior from Georgia and is a wonderful young man who has a tremendous way with people. He is authentic, consistent and lives in a manner absent of bias towards others which is so valuable in a team environment and in life. His commitment to our standards is unquestioned and he continues to raise the bar on his potential each year on and off the field.
Andres is a Creative Writing major who plans on pursuing an MBA graduate degree after graduation. He would like to eventually become a writer for television or movie productions. He is active in the theatre department at RU. Andres volunteers his time helping teach Spanish to students and works with orientation endeavors for incoming freshmen.
Fun Facts about Andres: • His favorite Disney character is Genie from Aladdin • His favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 because it appeared to my family twice after we moved from Florida to Georgia. In our time of insecurity, we received this divine grace. • His favorite childhood game was soccer! • Andres likes to teach Spanish to others. He thinks one of the most beautiful things in the world is how language shapes culture. Things can often be lost in translation like the way in which a joke works in English but not in French. Helping those who want to learn, and then seeing those people start to form relationships with people they couldn't communicate with before is a beautiful thing. • Motto to live by: “Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you love. Characteristics Andres shares with Kyle: Kyle and Andre both lived without bias towards others and an incredible work ethic. They both grew up playing soccer.
